The groomer, the pet-friendly café, the beach — all a drive away. Which makes one question surprisingly important: is your dog actually safe in your car?
The risk nobody talks about
A dog roaming freely in a moving car is a hazard — for them and for you:
- An excited dog can slip into the driver’s footwell, or block your view at exactly the wrong moment
- A dog moving from seat to seat pulls your attention away from the road — one of the most underestimated causes of distraction at the wheel
- After even a minor stop, a frightened, unrestrained dog may bolt through an open door into traffic
